Jenn Adams Music of Necessity - Bio

Over the past 25 years, I’ve traveled the US and Europe performing in listening rooms, coffeehouses, theaters and many of our country's most notable festivals including Kerrville, Falcon Ridge, Rocky Mountains Folks and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. The Troubadours road isn’t an easy one but it’s the best life I’ve found so far. I’ve been lucky and blessed. I greatly appreciated being awarded “Grand Prize Winner” from the USA Songwriter Awards in 2003, for my song "Rosalia". A tune about a young girl, married at a young age, raising kids in a dangerous relationship. It doesn’t turn out well, but I think it’s important to talk about tough subjects. It makes us all think about our place in the world.

In 2011, I graduate from the Berklee College of Music where I studied with songwriting guru, Pat Pattison and worked with legendary artists such as Janis Ian, James Taylor and Paul Simon. I learned a lot to say the least. It’s made me a much more effective songwriter and educator. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the unique opportunities given to those of us leading an artistic life.

I got back to Montana that same summer and have been thrilled to be home. I’m now teaching, touring and recording in the northwest again. It feels great!
